Ladies and Gentlemen, Iran's nuclear issue is an important and sensitive subject in the Middle East region. We, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia affirm the right of all countries to utilize nuclear power for peaceful purposes and to obtain relevant nuclear know-how and technology. Nonetheless, we call upon Iran and all countries in the Middle East to respect international resolutions that govern nuclear usage and to observe all regulations and standards set forth by the International Atomic Energy Agency in order to keep the region safe from any disaster or danger. We hope that this issue will be resolved through diplomatic and peaceful means. Attempts to acquire weapons of mass destruction will exacerbate elements of crisis and instability in the area. Hence, understanding the security concerns and interests of regional states, and addressing them in a meaningful way is the best course of action to realize security and stability instead of seeking to acquire weapons of devastation. --more
