South Korea's Foreign Ministry says U.S. beef exports to South Korea will only come from cattle less than 30-months old, the Associated Press reported. The ministry says in a Saturday statement an age-verification system will be set up in the United States to ensure only U.S. beef from younger cattle will be exported. It says the agreement was reached earlier this week between South Korean Trade Minister Kim Jong-hoon and his U.S. counterpart Susan Schwab in Washington.
