President George W. Bush spoke Thursday with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and agreed that negotiations for a long-term security agreement were moving forward, the White House said. “The two leaders discussed the ongoing negotiations to develop normalized bilateral relations and agreed that the negotiations are proceeding well with constructive ideas being offered by both sides,” said national security spokesman Gordon Johndroe.
