The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia affirmed its support for the Declaration of Jammu and Kashmir issued by the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Contact Group held in March 13, 2008 on the sidelines of the 11th session of the Organization held in Dakar in the Republic of Senegal. It also affirmed its commitment to supporting peaceful and fair solution to the conflict in Jammu and Kashmir in emphasis of the just rights of the Kashmiri people and their aspirations, stressing the right of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in self-determination according to UN resolutions. This came in remarks of Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Nizar bin Obaid Madani in the meeting of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir on the sidelines of meetings of 35th Session of Council of Foreign Ministers of Organization of Islamic Conference. He said, "We look forward to the commitment of all parties involved in the conflict to respect international resolutions and human rights of the Kashmiri people and their legitimate rights". He added, "The Government of Saudi Arabia appreciates the commitment of the Government of Pakistan, its flexibility, and its quest for creating an atmosphere conducive to the ongoing comprehensive dialogue with the Indian government to move forward towards a just and final settlement of the conflict in Jammu and Kashmir, and we look forward to the cooperation of the Government of India and its positive interaction with the Pakistani positive trend in the dialogue and to resolve the crisis away from the atmosphere of tension and conflict". He expressed his appreciation for the good efforts made by the Contact Group to work to find a peaceful solution to the issue of Jammu and Kashmir.
