The euro gained against the dollar Tuesday, the Associated Press reported. The euro bought US$1.5508 in European morning trading, up from US$1.5489 in late New York trading Monday. The British pound bought US$1.9662 up from US$1.9635 late Monday. The dollar dropped to buy 107.73 Japanese yen from 108.12 yen in New York. Meanwhile, light, sweet crude for July delivery soared to a trading record of US$139.89 before settling back at US$134.61 a barrel.
