US President George W Bush arrived Wednesday afternoon in Rome amid tight security which has seen some 10,000 soldiers and police deployed in the Italian capital, according to dpa. The US presidential plane, Air Force One, touched down at Rome's Ciampino military airport. Bush flew in from Berlin - the previous leg of a European tour which includes Slovenia, Germany, France, Italy, Britain and Northern Ireland. Bush's three-day visit includes meetings with Italian President Giorgio Napolitano and Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi on Thursday. The US president is also scheduled to meet Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican on Friday before departing for Paris.
