A mortar fired from the Gaza Strip on Thursday killed one Israeli in a kibbutz adjacent to the salient, and an Israeli air strike killed a four-year old girl in the enclave, officials and witnesses said, according to dpa. The girl was killed, and her mother wounded, when struck by an Israeli missile, Hamas said. One Israeli was killed, and three wounded, in a mortar attack on the Nir Oz kibbutz, located near the southern Strip. Two of the wounded were in serious condition from the shell, which struck a factory in the kibbutz. All the victims were hit by shrapnel from the projectile. Thursday's fatality was the fourth this year from rocket or mortar fire from the Gaza Strip. Egypt is currently trying to mediate a truce the between groups, who launch projectiles at southern Israel and Israel.
