Finnish Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb Friday repeated his "serious concern" over tensions in two breakaway regions in Georgia after a meeting with Georgian Foreign Minister Ekaterine Tkeshelashvili, according to dpa. The Finnish foreign ministry issued a statement saying the two foreign ministers had also discussed recent parliamentary elections in Georgia. Finland is current chair of the 56-nation Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Tkeshelashvili said Georgia was interested in using the OSCE's "confidence building measures" as part of efforts to defuse tensions between Georgia and Russia, the statement said. Stubb said Finland as OSCE chair would "do its best to assist in consultations" between the two neighbours. The OSCE has earlier said it was prepared to aid the peace process and supported the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders.
