Police say at least 39 people have been killed after a truck ferrying people to a wedding plunged into a river in southern India, according to AP. Senior police officer Sharath Chandra said the truck was carrying 70 people over a bridge when the driver lost control while trying to some avoid electrical wires on the road. Chandra said 39 bodies have been recovered so far, adding that rescue efforts were ongoing. Trucks are often used to transport people in rural India.
