Executive Secretary of UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Ali Al-Dafa expressed ESCWA readiness to provide training and orientations which will facilitate the joining of Republic of Yemen to the membership of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Upon his arrival in Sanaa to participate in the 25th Session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, (UN-ESCWA), on May 26-29, 2008 at the Move-n-pick Hotel in Sanaa, he said ESCWA can also assist in joint partnership projects between Yemen and the GCC, which is comprised of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman. The UN-ESCWA official pointed to the importance of the 25th ministerial session of the Commission in Sanaa which is also scheduled to be attended by the GCC countries. He noted that there will be a round table to discuss the possibilities for investment in Yemen and discuss the proposed projects in addition to organize three exhibitions on the sidelines of the ministerial session. It should be noted that 13 countries, international bodies and Arab funds, institutions and organizations from various Arab countries will participate in this ministerial session.
