Tuareg rebels attacked an army camp in northeastern Mali and 17 rebels and 15 government soldiers were killed in one of the bloodiest clashes to date in a revolt by the desert insurgents, the government said on Thursday, according to Reuters. A Defence Ministry statement said an "armed band" assaulted the camp at Abebara, 150 km (90 miles) from Kidal during the night of Tuesday to Wednesday in Mali's remote northeast, where Tuareg fighters have carried out a series of raids and ambushes.
