A landslide killed one person in Karangrejo village, Kampak Subdistrict, Trenggalek Districk, East Java, on Monday, ANTARA reported. The victim was asleep when the landslide buried his home. Tens of local villagers helped to evacuate his body which had been trapped under hundreds of cubic meters of mud. His body was later found and buried in a local graveyard on the same day. The landslide was triggered by heavy rains which had been pouring on the village since Sunday (May 18) evening. Two houses were buried by the landslide. In addition to Karangrejo, Ngadimulyo village was also affected by a landslide. The landslide in Ngadimuljo cut off road connecting Munjungan and Trenggalek. According to data of the Kampak Subdistrict military office, there were 21 locations affected by landslides in Karangrejo and Ngadimulyo villages, Trenggalek. "For temporary, the victim is just one person, because we are still collecting information and data about the disaster," Juri of the military office said.
