Fifteen persons, including two children and their mother, were killed in an early Sunday auto crash on the Abuja-Lokoja highway, central Nigeria, according to dpa. Eight other persons were also seriously wounded in the crash, an officer of the state-run Federal Road Safety Commission, Agnes Jimba, said. The accident involved a commuter bus, heading from Abuja to Port Harcourt in the Niger Delta, a tanker hauling petroleum products and a Volkswagen Golf car. The tanker crushed the bus and the car. Jimba said the commuter bus was trying to avoid a motorcyclist when it ran into the Volkswagen car. The driver of the tanker was taken into protective custody while the drivers of the two other vehicles were among the dead.
