The Cabinet decided to give US$1.5 million (RM4.9 million) in aid to the earthquake victims in China, Bernama reported. A Foreign Ministry statement said Foreign Minister Dr Rais Yatim will hand over the aid to the Chinese ambassador here soon. The donation is made based on the strong China-Malaysia friendship, it said. The 7.8 magnitude earhtquake in Sichuan province on May 12 killed 21,500 people and caused widespread damage to property. The ministry added that 26 Malaysians tourists rescued in the province today were in the process of being repatriated back to Malaysia
