U.S. stock futures pointed to a lower open Tuesday, with investors looking to book profits on the previous day's rally amid a flurry of deal news and concerns about further bank write-downs. Less than two hours before the start of trading, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures were 39 points lower at 12825. The S&P 500 futures slipped 4.2 to 1400.5, and Nasdaq 100 futures lost 3.5 to 1995. Changes in futures do not always accurately predict early market moves after the opening bell. Stocks were coming off a strong performance Monday, when a drop in crude-oil futures and deal speculation drove the Dow Jones Industrials up 130 points. The Nasdaq Composite rose 42 points and the S&P 500 gained 15 points.
