Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Atiyyah, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, today confirmed the support of the GCC countries for the security and unity of Sudan, saying that "any attempt to destabilize the Sudan runs contrary to the aspirations of the sisterly people of the Sudan who are gearing forward to achieve peace, security and stability in their country". He drew the attention to the position of the GCC states supporting the efforts exerted by the Sudanese Government to solve the crisis in Darfur State through dialogue, calling, at the same time, on the world community and concerned parties to exert more effort to solve the crisis through dialogue and peaceful negotiations.
