The General Commission of Civil Aviation pointed out that the control tower at King Abdulaziz International Airport informed today the captain of a plane Boeing 747-300 of Saudi Arabian Airlines destined for Dakar, carrying 429 passengers and 26 crew members that it was noticed that some parts of the aircraft's wheels were scattered on the runway during the take-off along with the emission of smoke from the right side of the plane. The captain decided to return to the airport to ensure the safety of the plane and its passengers. The Commission noted that the plane landed safely and there were no injuries. The passengers were transferred to the international arrival lounge in ordinary ways. It added that the authority responsible for aviation safety at the Commission started investigation into the circumstances of the incident to ascertain the causes that led to the return of the aircraft in accordance with the rules and regulations of aviation safety.
