Egyptian official confirms request to hold Arab League meeting

The official spokesman of the Egyptian foreign ministry Hosam Zaki said that his country and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia presented a request for holding an emergency meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member Countries of the Arab League to discuss the deteriorating situation in Lebanon.
In a statement today, Zaki said the request was directed to Secretary General of the Arab League Amr Mosa. He added the meeting is expected to be held during the next two days.
