Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary General Abdulrahman bin Hamad Ala'ateyah expressed concern over the regrettable developments of events in Lebanon. Ala'ateyah appealed to all Lebanese powers to give priority to the national Lebanese interest over any other considerations and exert sincere efforts to come out of this adventitious crisis with the aim of reaching a common ground leading to the achievement of agreement on all issues which are a source of disagreement and which preoccupy the Lebanese people. Ala'ateyah stressed that there is an urgent need for ending the political tension and all that undermines security and life in Lebanon. Ala'ateyah urged all Lebanese factions to exercise self-restraint and deal with the situation with wisdom and deliberation as this is a basic demand for solving the existing problems to ensure the security and stability of Lebanon and bolster its unity and sovereignty. Ala'ateyah reiterated the GCC's position supporting the security, stability and prosperity of Lebanon and its people.
