The dollar strengthened against Europe's major currencies on Wednesday, the Associated Press reported. The euro bought US$1.5484, down from the US$1.5533 it purchased in New York late Tuesday. The British pound also slipped to US$1.9579, from US$1.9730, while the Japanese yen rose to 105.26 from 104.71 yen in New York overnight.
