A 4.9 point earthquake was registered on the Miyako Island, Okinawa, in the south of Japan on Saturday, Itar-Tass reported. The national meteorological administration said there was no danger of tsunami. No casualties or damage have been reported so far. The earthquake centered near the coast about 30 kilometers under the ocean bed. Japan has its own earthquake scale that is close to the open-ended Richter scale but reflects local geological peculiarities.
