France's Foreign Ministry said a French aid worker has been shot to death in Chad, according to ap. It said that aid worker Pascal Marlinge had worked in eastern Chad with refugees and displaced Chadians. The "Save The Children" organization in Britain said that Marlinge was working with it. It said he was riding in a convoy of relief agencies near the Sudanese border when it was stopped by a group of armed men and shots were fired. The group said it is suspending its work in Chad until further notice because of Thursday's killing. France already has lost one soldier in eastern Chad who mistakenly drove into neighboring Sudan recently and was shot.
