Turkish artillery units shelled Sunday villages in Iraq's northern Kurdish Autonomous Region for the third successive day, Kurdish sources say, DPA reported. "Turkish artillery shelled once more villages in Zakho on the border with Turkey under the pretext of seeking out members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK)," the sources said. No damage was caused by the shelling, which lasted nearly an hour. Turkish warplanes and artillery have bombed rebel positions over the past two days in the regions of Zap, Avasin-Basyan and Hakurk on the border with northern Iraq, the Turkish military said Saturday.
