Prince Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Assistant Defense and Aviation Minister for Military Affairs, said the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz always give priority to implementing the best projects at the minimum cost, adding that 'this is the traditional option of the Ministry Of Defense And Aviation in particular'. Inaugurating the Fourth Gulf Conference on Value Engineering here yesterday on behalf of the Crown Prince, Prince Khalid noted that the value engineering began its initial march from the Ministry of Defense and Aviation, represented by its military works administration, and 'we have strongly supported it by raising the engineering level in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia." Prince Khalid reiterated that the applications of the value engineering are not confined to the engineering domains, but they also include programs like fighting terrorism and extremism as well as combating drugs and epidemics and diseases in addition to developing the educational system and tackling the problems of spinsterhood and unemployment as well as armament projects. All the aforesaid topics are in need of the value engineering," he said. Prince Khalid noted that Saudization of value engineering should pass five stages, namely: preparation of the required cadres locally; purchase and borrowing of technology; preparing the new technology to conform to the environment and society, gradual application and innovation and development of the technology. He also expressed appreciation for the role being played by the efficient engineers and scientists at the Saudi Engineers Association and the engineers of the branch of the International Society for Engineers of the value engineering and the military works for their distinguished efforts in the transference of value engineering technology in the Gulf region. --MORE
