Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Mohammed, the Assistant President of General Intelligence, and Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Secretary General of The General Commission for Tourism And Antiquities, inspected here on Saturday a number of historical and archeological sites in Taima, 260 kilometer east of Tabuk region. Speaking on the occasion, Prince Sultan bin Salman reiterated the keenness of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and his Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz on the preservation of the antiquities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In a press statement, Prince Sultan bin Salman said the King and the Crown Prince view the antiquities as a national wealth which should be preserved. "I would like to urge the citizens to preserve this important national wealth". Underlining the significance of the national historical heritage, Prince Sultan bin Salman said the historical and archeological sites are linked with the sector of tourism. He disclosed that the German mission, who is engaged, along with a joint Saudi team, from King Saud University and the sector of antiquities and museums, in excavation activities in Taima, has requested extending the term of its activity to additional five years. --MORE
