Taiwan's vice president-elect has begun a historic meeting with Chinese President Hu Jintao. Vincent Siew's meeting on Saturday makes him the highest-ranking elected figure to come face-to-face with a Chinese leader since the two sides split amid civil war almost 60 years ago, the Associated Press reported. Siew and President-elect Ma Ying-jeou ran on a platform of improving economic relations with China and moving toward a resolution of their long-standing political deadlock.
