United Nations (U.N.) chief Ban Ki-moon in a Friday statement through his spokesperson said “prompt action” is needed to divert a possible deteriorating situation in Zimbabwe. “The Secretary-General is concerned that the situation in Zimbabwe could deteriorate if there is no prompt action to resolve this impasse, " Ban's spokesperson wrote. While expressing concern, Ban's spokesperson also stated that Ban congratulated Southern African Development leaders for convening a Heads of State summit in Zambia on April 13 on Zimbabwe. “He [Ban] is pleased that regional leaders are mobilizing and coordinating to help Zimbabwe overcome its post-electoral crisis through peaceful means,” the statement said. Ban's spokesperson, Marie Okabe, told the press on Friday that Ban along with his wife, will travel to Africa at the end of April, visiting Ghana, Liberia, Burkina Faso and Cote D'Ivoire.
