Two small bombs exploded Sunday near the town of Azpeitia in Spain's northern Basque region, causing minor damage near a television transmitter, AP quoted regional police as saying. No injuries were reported. A telephone warning claiming to come from the Basque separatist group ETA was received at 11:00 a.m. (0900 GMT) by a road emergency service saying an explosive device had been placed near the transmitter. Police cordoned off an area around the building, but when nothing happened bomb disposal officers inspecting the site found that two very small explosions had happened next to a door, a Basque police spokesman said on condition of anonymity in keeping with force rules.
