The Turkish army killed 15 fighters from the banned Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) on the border with neighbouring Iraq, the General Staff said in Ankara on Saturday, according to DPA. The group had attempted to infiltrate Turkey from northern Iraq to carry out an attack, the military said. Turkish troops had opened fire. The reported number of people killed was based on an investigation of the hostilities according to two sides on Thursday. On Friday, the Turkish air force patrolled large parts of the border area. The Turkish army infiltrated northern Iraq with ground troops to crush the PKK.
