Heads of national Olympic Committees of member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held in the Qatari capital of Doha today their 22nd meeting. Qatar's Vice President of the Olympic Committee Sheikh Saud bin Ali Al Thani chaired the meeting which was also attended by GCC Secretary General Abdurrahman bin Hamad Al-Atiyyah. Prince Sultan bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, General President of Youth Welfare, led the delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the meeting. The meeting praised the call by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to expedite work at all levels and remove obstacles facing the march of the GCC. The GCC senior officials supported Qatar's bid to host the world Olympic Games 2016. The meeting called on all GCC Olympic committees for coordination among each other in the fields of unifying of routine procedures, training, doping combat and benefiting from Doha Declaration in December 2007 calling for the establishment of GCC common market. The meeting welcomed the bid of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to hold the GCC conference on Sports Medicine and Qatar's Olympic committee's hosting of the International Conference on Law and Sports 2008. The meeting endorsed the decision to transfer to Bahrain the headquarters of the Soccer Organizing Committee in GCC countries, effective June 01, 2008, thanking Kuwait for hosting it over the last period.
