The French Defense Minister says NATO forces have «overall control» of the military situation in Afghanistan. In an interview with The Associated Press, Herve Morin said France is looking at ways of boosting its troop levels there. But he said no decision has been made, and an announcement won't come until next week's NATO summit in Bucharest, Romania. Morin said French President Nicolas Sarkozy has written to his counterparts to say a possible increase of France's involvement in Afghanistan must be part of a «global approach» to bringing stability to the country. He said more than just a military solution is needed.
