Prince Misha'al bin Majed bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of Jeddah, opened here last night the first Saudi Forum on Ports and Shipping, organized by Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with Al-Fares group. The Forum was held at Hilton hotel under the title of 'Future Vision at the Globalization Era'. Speaking on the occasion, President of the Forum Tariq al-Marzouki said the organization of the Forum aims at the development of the services of the ports and shipping. On his part, Minister of Transport and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ports Authority Dr Jubara al-Sireisiri said shipping plays a crucial role in the world economy, because without shipping no sea trade will exist and without sea trade there will be no world economy. He noted that the systems and rules that govern shipping are steadily developing. Dr al-Sireisiri pointed out that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has developed its ports and enabled the private sector to contribute to the operation of the wharves and stations. "Moreover, we have been updating the systems which contribute to the attraction of foreign investments', he said.
