The council of Arab League approved in its extraordinary meeting held here on Wednesday at the level of permanent delegates the appointment of Kuwait's Undersecretary of Ministry of Finance Adnan Issa Al-Khudheir as Assistant Secretary-General for a five-year period. He will be the successor to Abdullah Al-Mansour, who resigned as Assistant Secretary-General for financial auditing and will be appointed as a permanent delegate of Kuwait to the Arab League. The Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the Arab League, Ambassador Ahmed Qattan who headed the extraordinary meeting said in a statement after the meeting that the council also approved the nomination of Faeqah Saeed Al-Saleh of Bahrain, for the Assistant Secretary-General for Social Affairs for a five-year period. He said that Faeqah is expected to be appointed as a successor to former Assistant Secretary-General Nancy Bakri, who was appointed as a Minister at the Jordanian Government, pointing out that the council also agreed to nominate an Algerian judge for a position of judge at the World Seas Organization. He stated that the extraordinary meeting discussed only the financial and administrative issues and did not discuss any political issues pertaining to the Arab Summit.
