Vietnam has detected nine people from the capital Hanoi, northern Hai Phong city and northern Ha Tay province who have suffered from cholera since March 6, Xinhua quoted local newspaper Labor as reporting today. The two latest cholera patients, who are from Ha Tay and Hai Phong, are under treatment at National Institute of Infectious and Tropical Diseases in Hanoi. The patient from Ha Tay works in Hanoi. All nine patients ate dishes either made from raw materials or sold at small street-side shops before developing acute diarrhea symptoms. Local experts have warned that acute diarrhea can strike Vietnam in the coming time, although the disease's outbreak in the country was announced to have ended on Dec. 25, 2007. Between last October and December, acute diarrhea was reported in 13 provinces and cities in Vietnam. Hanoi suffered the most with a majority of cases, a few of which were tested positive to cholera virus.
