A suicide bomber detonated an explosives vest at a checkpoint on the Iraq-Syrian border, killing an interpreter and wounding six others, ap quoted the U.S. military as saying on Saturday. Another interpreter, two coalition soldiers, two customs personnel and two others with the U.S. Department of the Army were injured in the explosion, the military said. The incident occurred Friday at the entry point in Rabiyah, 120 kilometers (75 miles) north of Mosul. Elsewhere in Iraq, a suicide car bomber attacked an Iraqi army checkpoint in Tikrit, 130 kilometers (80 miles) north of Baghdad, killing one Iraqi soldier and wounding nine others. The second attack happened on Thursday, the military said.
