A suicide car bomber targeted a convoy of US-led coalition forces Thursday near Kabul's airport, killing six civilians and injuring at least 18, officials said. A Taliban spokesman said the fundamentalist Islamic movement was responsible. While Salem Asas, provincial police chief of Kabul, confirmed coalition forces were the target of the blast, he said he could not say whether the soldiers suffered any casualties. The bomber blew up his explosives-packed car near a bus stop on the airport road during the morning rush hour, Asas told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa. Several suicide bombers targeted Afghan and international forces on the same road last year. Several cars were damaged and ambulances had arrived at the scene, witness Ahmad Nejad said. Asas said six civilians were killed while officials from the Public Health Ministry said they had admitted at least 18 wounded civilians for treatment.
