Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry Saad bin Ibrahim Al-Meijel today called on Swedish businessmen to invest in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and for the creation of new investment channels aiming at more cooperation, transfer of technology, promotion of economic ties and offset of commercial balance between the Kingdom and Sweden which favors the Swedish side. Addressing a meeting chaired on the Swedish side by visiting Minister of Foreign Trade Ewa Bjorling, Al-Meijel confirmed the firmness of relations between the Kingdom and Sweden, noting that the recent visit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to Sweden has contributed to the strength of those ties. On her part, the Swedish minister suggested that the Saudi Swedish relations would witness further growth and prosperity. She said promoting relations with the GCC member countries occupy priority in the Swedish government policies. There is need for more dialogue between west and east and more understanding of Islam and Muslims, noting that the Kingdom is eligible to play the role in rapprochement between Christianity and Islam and west and east. The trade exchange size between the Kingdom and Sweden favors Sweden as Saudi exports to Sweden amount to about SR163 million while imports from the European country reached about SR4004 million.
