On behalf of the Minister of Culture and Information Iyad bin Amin Madani, the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Cultural Affairs Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammad Al-Sobail opened here today the activities of the First Saudi Forum for Intellectual Property Protection organized by Saudi Publishers Society in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Information. The President of Saudi Publishers Association Ahmed bin Fahd Al-Hamdan, who is also the Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Forum, delivered a speech in which he said that the Forum comes within the framework of the efforts of the Saudi Publishers Association and the Ministry of Culture and Information to disseminate awareness of the importance of protecting intellectual property rights and its impact on economic development in addition to encourage investment and innovation. He also said that the participatants in the forum are members of the Shoura Council, the National Committee for Lawyers in the Council of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the General Authority for Investment, the General Administration of Industrial Property in King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, the Grievances Court, the Ministry of Culture and Information, the Customs Department, King Saud University, King Abdulaziz Public Library, the International Intellectual Property Alliance (IIPA), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Arab Union for the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights, the Arab Publishers Union and the Arab Union for Electronic Publishing.
