Luxembourg on Thursday recognized the independence of Kosovo from Serbia, the Luxembourg government announced according to DPA. Luxembourg Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn told his country's parliament that if the European Union considered the Kosovo status quo unsustainable and sought to undertake special responsibility in the Balkans, then "we have to act." The parliament supported the government decision unanimously.
