British Airways (BA) Wednesday announced a further hike in its fuel surcharges for long-haul flights in what it said was a response to high oil prices, reported dpa. From February 25, the surcharge for long-haul flights of less than nine hours will rise to 106 pounds (212 dollars) from 96 pounds. The surcharge on return long-haul flights of more than nine hours would increase from 116 pounds to 128 pounds, the airline said. The charge for short-haul flights will remain unchanged at 20 pounds for a return flight. Meanwhile, a survey published Wednesday showed that BA is one of the worst-performing airlines in Europe when it comes to reuniting passengers with their luggage at their destination. According to the Air Transport Users Council (AUC), BA's performance on delayed bags was topped only by TAP, the Portuguese airline.
