Chinese police destroyed a terrorist gang in Urumqi, capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, killing two persons and arresting 15 others, Xinhua quoted local sources as saying today. Five policemen were injured during the raid when three homemade grenades were thrown toward them, the sources said. Police shot dead one terrorist during the gunfight and wounded seven others, including one who died en route to the hospital. The police seized knives, axes and books about terrorism. The sources said that initial investigations found that the leaders of the gang had gathered more than 20 people and set up a stronghold in Urumqi.
