Eighty-two minds, spirits and hearts became one on Feb. 7 as children from around the Kingdom shared their artistic talents in Saudi Aramco's 28th Children's Art Contest, according to Aramco website. The contest, with the theme “One Nation, One Heart,” challenged students from grades one through 12 to express on canvas what it meant for Saudi Arabia to be one nation with one heart. The contest was open to Saudi students and non-Saudis, with boys and girls judged separately by members of the Dhahran Art Group. The submissions were grouped by grade level, with Category One for grades one-three, Category Two for grades four-six, Category Three for seventh grade to ninth grade and Category Four for grades 10-12. There was a fifth category for students with special needs, who also were honored at the ceremony. The children and their families came from around the Kingdom to attend the celebration. After registering at the Saudi Aramco Exhibit, guests were welcomed at a tent where all 82 winning drawings were on display. The children proudly showed their work off to their families. The contest encouraged the children to be creative and innovative. “We wanted to encourage the children to make creativity an integral part of their life,” said Manal M. Dowayan, head of the company's Corporate Identity And Graphic Design Unit. “We want to plant the seed of innovation for the future.”
