The stock market sputtered toward the finish of a raucous week, its mood remaining glum Friday as investors fretted about both old-fashioned industry and practitioners of high-flown finance alike. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which swung more than 175 points in each of the previous two sessions, recently traded down 73.16 points, or 0.6 percent, at 12303.82. The Standard & Poor's 500 was off 0.4 percent, or 5.56 points, at 1343.30, led by industrial sector, off nearly 1 percent. The tech-focused Nasdaq Composite Index was off 0.9 percent, or 21.50 points, at 2311.04. The New York Stock Exchange was up 2.35 points, or .03 percent, to close at 8,970.76, the American Stock Exchange Composite Index was down 18.60 points, or 0.82 percent, to close at 2244.50, and the Russell 2000 was down 2.80 points, or .54 percent, to close at 701.52. U.S. light crude for March delivery rose .04 percent, to settle at 94.50.
