Three rare Gray's Beaked whales died after becoming stranded on a beach in New Zealand's Far North, according to Department of Conservation officials quoted on Friday. The two adult females, up to 6 metres long and weighing about 1.5 tons, and a juvenile were among a pod of five that beached themselves on Wednesday near Mangonui. Volunteers managed to steer the other two back out to sea.
