The revenues of Zakat (alms) and income department in the fiscal year 1427/1428 jumped to about sr6.5 billion from sr 4.5 billion in the previous year. This was announced by Ibrahim al-Muflih, the director general of the department of Zakat and income, in a statement to SPA on the occasion of the end of the fiscal year 1427-1428. He attributed this increase to the broadening of the economic activities in the Kingdom and the efforts of the officials of the department of Zakat and income to collect Zakat at the fixed time, and to update and simplify the procedures in this respect. Al-Muflih pointed out that the department is planning to apply the system of the electronic government.
