The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet's session at Al-Yamamah palace in Riyadh on Monday. At the outset of the session, the King briefed the cabinet on the consultations, communications and meetings he held over the previous days including his meeting with Lebanon's Premier Fuad Al-Siniora. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the session, the Minister of Culture and Information Iyad bin Amin Madani said that the cabinet was briefed by Prince Saud Al-Faisal, the Foreign Minister in his report on the meeting of Arab Foreign Ministers Council held in Cairo on Sunday to follow up the situation in Lebanon. The cabinet urged the Lebanese parties and all states concerned with Lebanon's stability and security to be committed to the Arab initiative on Lebanon and to exert efforts for implementing the initiative starting from the election of Lebanon's new president. The cabinet also condemned riots and violence which took place in Lebanon on Monday and warned of the consequences of dragging Lebanon into fighting which leads to the suffering of all parties, and serves the interests of the enemies of Lebanon and Arab and Islamic nations. The cabinet called on them to positively respond to the legitimate authorities and the security forces in Lebanon. --More
