Yemen will participate in the 2nd Conference of State Parties to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) to be held in the Indonesian Island of Bali from 28 January to 01 February 2008, SABA reported. Upon his departure to Indonesia, member of the Supreme National Authority for Combating Corruption (SNACC) and head of the Yemeni delegation to the conference Khaled Abdulaziz said to SABA that NSACC would present in the conference its evaluation concerning the UN convention of combating corruption in Yemen. The Yemeni delegation included members of NSACC Yassin Abdo Saeed, Ubaid Awadh al Hamer, in addition to representatives of concerned bodies of combating corruption. According to the UN office for combating corruption and organized crime in Vienna, the conference would discuss the ongoing efforts to establish effective systems to combat corruption in the participating countries. Discussions will address other issues, such as the application of UNCAC principles to international organizations and their officials. More than 130 countries participated in the two-year negotiations for the UN Convention Against Corruption, which concluded in October. Since that time, 107 nations have become parties to the Convention, including the United States.
