U.S.-led coalition and Afghan troops clashed with insurgents during a search operation in eastern Afghanistan on Friday, leaving one coalition soldier dead and three others wounded, ap quoted a statement as saying. The clash happened in Nari district of Kunar province as the joint force searched a compound, the coalition statement said. The troops called in airstrikes, which «destroyed an insurgent cell,» it said. The nationalities of the dead and wounded soldiers were not released. Most of the troops in that area are American. An Afghan soldier and an interpreter working for the coalition were also wounded, the statement said. It did not say how many suspected militants were killed.
