Mexican rescuers were evacuating an injured French tourist from a cave on Thursday after a collapse surprised his underground expedition, reported The Associated Press. Arthur Meauxone, 21, had a fractured knee and remained trapped in the cave in the central Mexican state of Puebla, said Benoit Chalet, a spokesman for the French Embassy in Mexico City. Chalet said state civil protection workers aided by a team of Mexican spelunkers hoped to have Meauxone out of the cave sometime Thursday. The five other members of the expedition were rescued. Two returned to the cave overnight to bring Meauxone food and water, keep him company and lead rescue workers to the site. The group of four men and two women were experienced cave explorers, Chalet said. Details of the collapse were not available.
