An underwater pipeline supplying gas to homes and industries in and around the Bangladesh capital Dhaka exploded on Thursday, sparking a huge fire, Reuters quoted officials as saying. The explosion happened in the river Turag at Amin Bazar, 30 km (19 miles) north of Dhaka. Fire fighters were trying to douse huge flames reaching 60 feet (18-metre) or more above the water, witnesses said. Officials suspect the gas pipeline could have been hit by a boat.
